Der Workshop richtet sich sowohl an Computerlinguisten <\/strong>als auch an Wissenschaftler im Bereich der Digital Humanities<\/strong>, die DH-Module \u2013 und im speziellen NLP \u2013 unterrichten. Im Workshop wechseln Vortr\u00e4ge und Diskussionen ab, um Erfahrungen auszutauschen, best practices<\/em> zu diskutieren, Lehrkonzepte vorzustellen und bereits vorhandene Technologien zu demonstrieren. Der Workshop stellt au\u00dferdem ein Forum dar, um Anforderungen und Hilfestellungen f\u00fcr zuk\u00fcnftige Entwicklungen von DH Curricula in Richtung Computerlinguistik zu adressieren. Der Workshop soll Kooperationen f\u00f6rdern und Wissen und Ans\u00e4tze DH-\u00fcbergreifend befruchten.<\/p>\n

Teach4DH<\/em> wird mitorganisiert von der GSCL SIG Education and Profession<\/a> und findet zusammen mit der GSCL 2017<\/a> statt.<\/p>\n

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Computational linguists often teach digital humanities (DH) modules that focus on using \/ applying \/ adapting NLP technologies and resources to DH problems. The challenge in such modules is to introduce students with a background in humanities or social sciences to technical content without going into detail. NLP tools often require special input formats, knowledge of program options, and post-processing of the output. NLP resources are often not easily accessible and provide only limited interaction. Interfaces and search tools require knowledge of specialized search syntax.<\/p>\n

The workshop is intended to provide a forum for such \u201cNLP teachers\u201d to share experiences, discuss best practices, introduce teaching concepts, and present demos of existing technology. It also provides an opportunity for DH researchers to express their needs and provide directions for future DH curricular developments. The workshop is intended to foster collaborations and to cross-fertilize knowledge and approaches across DH disciplines.<\/p>\n

Teach4DH is co-organized by GSCL’s SIG Education and Profession<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WORKSHOP TOPICS<\/strong><\/p>\n

We welcome submissions of long and short papers, posters, and demonstrations relating to any aspect of teaching NLP in DH classes, including:<\/p>\n

– Didactic units \/ concepts \/ tools for employing NLP in teaching „on stage“<\/p>\n

– Challenges in teaching for a non-CL audience<\/p>\n

– Exploiting NLP tools „behind the scenes“ for creating didactic DH material<\/p>\n

– Curricular considerations in developing standards for DH programs<\/p>\n
