OAPEN\u00a0promotes and supports the transition to open access for academic books by providing open infrastructure services to stakeholders in scholarly communication. OAPEN works with publishers to build a quality-controlled collection of open access books and provide services for publishers, libraries, and research funders in the areas of hosting, deposit, quality assurance, dissemination, and digital preservation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/events.gwdg.de\/event\/1009\/attachments\/963\/1915\/doablogo-banner.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"281\" height=\"108\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.doabooks.org\/\">DOAB<\/a>\u00a0(Directory of Open Access Books)\u00a0is a community-driven discovery service that indexes and provides access to scholarly, peer-reviewed open access books and helps users to find trusted open access book publishers. All DOAB services are free of charge and all data is freely available.<\/p>\n<p>Both initiatives are of relevance for the communities around the NFDI consortia of the MoU group: NFDI4Culture, Text+, NFDI4Memory, and NFDI4Objects.<\/p>\n<p>Silke Davison and Sebastiano Sali, Community Managers at OAPEN &amp; DOAB, will introduce the audience into both services, highlight benefits four our communities, and speak about some of the many already existing working relations with institutions of the German academia.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of this lecture, the participants shall feel intrigued to explore the services of OAPEN and DOAB and open access publishing for their own research projects.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This lecture will be held in English.<\/p>\n<h3>Topics<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to OAPEN &amp; DOAB as foundations<\/li>\n<li>Services of OAPEN<\/li>\n<li>Services of DOAB<\/li>\n<li>Questions from the audience<\/li>\n<li>Explanation and demonstration of the OAPEN OA Books Toolkit<\/li>\n<li>Questions from the audience<\/li>\n<li>OAPEN &amp; DOAB engagement in the community (with focus on Germany)<\/li>\n<li>Final questions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Intended Audience<\/h2>\n<p>The event is aimed at individuals conducting research in the social sciences and humanities, working at an infrastructure facility in the field, or simply interested in the topic. OAPEN f\u00f6rdert und unterst\u00fctzt den \u00dcbergang zu Open Access f\u00fcr akademische B\u00fccher durch die Bereitstellung offener Infrastrukturdienste f\u00fcr die Akteure der wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation. Wir arbeiten mit Verlagen zusammen, um eine qualit\u00e4tsgepr\u00fcfte Sammlung von Open-Access-B\u00fcchern aufzubauen, und bieten Dienstleistungen f\u00fcr Verlage, Bibliotheken und Forschungsf\u00f6rderer in den Bereichen Hosting, Hinterlegung, Qualit\u00e4tssicherung, Verbreitung und digitale Bewahrung.<\/p>\n<p>Das\u00a0<a class=\"text-decoration-none external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.doabooks.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DOAB<\/a>\u00a0(Directory of Open Access Books) ist ein von der Community betriebener Suchdienst, der wissenschaftliche, von Experten begutachtete Open-Access-B\u00fccher indexiert und zug\u00e4nglich macht und Nutzern hilft, vertrauensw\u00fcrdige Open-Access-Buchverlage zu finden. Alle DOAB-Dienste sind kostenlos und alle Daten sind frei verf\u00fcgbar.<\/p>\n<p>Beide Initiativen sind f\u00fcr die Gemeinschaften rund um die NFDI-Konsortien der MoU-Gruppe von Bedeutung: NFDI4Culture, Text+, NFDI4Memory, und NFDI4Objects.<\/p>\n<p>Silke Davison und Sebastiano Sali, Community Manager bei OAPEN &amp; DOAB, werden die Zuh\u00f6rer in beide Dienste einf\u00fchren, die Vorteile f\u00fcr unsere Communities aufzeigen und \u00fcber einige der vielen bereits bestehenden Arbeitsbeziehungen mit Institutionen der deutschen Wissenschaft sprechen.<\/p>\n<p>Am Ende des Vortrags sollen die Teilnehmer Lust bekommen, sich mit den Diensten von OAPEN und DOAB sowie mit Open-Access-Publikationen zu besch\u00e4ftigen.<\/p>\n<p>Dieser Vortrag wird in Englisch gehalten.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"zielpublikum\">Zielpublikum<\/h2>\n<p>Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an Personen, die in den Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften forschen, an einer Infrastruktureinrichtung in diesem Bereich arbeiten oder sich einfach f\u00fcr das Thema interessieren.
