September 2023 wird an der Universit\u00e4t Rostock ein Online-Workshop zum Thema &#8222;Introduction to LOD: From Digital Scholarly Editions and Text Collections to the Web of Data&#8220; stattfinden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Was ist LOD und warum ist es f\u00fcr digitale Editionen und Textsammlungen wichtig?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Linked Open Data, kurz LOD, ist eine Menge von Verfahren und Regeln f\u00fcr die Ver\u00f6ffentlichung von frei verf\u00fcgbaren Daten, um deren Verbindung mit anderen Daten aus verschiedenen Quellen und Formaten zu erm\u00f6glichen. Diese Regeln k\u00f6nnen auch f\u00fcr die Strukturierung von verf\u00fcgbaren Informationen in digitalen Editionen und Korpora angewandt werden, damit diese Informationen miteinander verkn\u00fcpft und leicht durchsuchbar werden k\u00f6nnen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Workshop &#8222;Introduction to LOD: From Digital Scholarly Editions and Text Collections to the Web of Data&#8220; bietet eine Einf\u00fchrung in die Konzepte und Standards von LOD, verbunden mit der Anwendung dieser Technologie auf digitale Editionen und literaturwissenschaftliche Korpora. Der Workshop wird von der Juniorprofessur f\u00fcr Digital Humanities und dem Schwerpunkt \u201eDigitale Hermeneutik\u201c des Departments \u201eWissen \u2013 Kultur \u2013 Transformation\u201c an der Universit\u00e4t Rostock organisiert.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Im ersten Teil des Workshops am 20.09. stellt Christopher Pollin von der Universit\u00e4t Graz Grundkonzepte von Linked Open Data vor. Ihre Relevanz und Anwendung f\u00fcr digitale Editionen werden diskutiert und praktisch ge\u00fcbt, u.a. am Beispiel von historischen Rechnungsb\u00fcchern. Am 21.09. geben Julia R\u00f6ttgermann, Johanna Konstanciak und Tinghui Duan von der Universit\u00e4t Trier im zweiten Teil des Workshops eine praktische Einf\u00fchrung in LOD anhand von Daten aus Wikidata und aus dem Projekt &#8222;Mining and Modeling Text&#8220; (MiMoText). Es werden die Zusammenh\u00e4nge zwischen Personendaten (Autor:innen), Ortsdaten (Handlungs- und Publikationsorte der Werke, teilweise auch historische Ortsnamen), Zeitdaten (Jahre der Erstver\u00f6ffentlichung)&nbsp; und Themen untersucht und in die Abfragesprache SPARQL eingef\u00fchrt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Teilnehmer:innen sollten \u00fcber Grundkenntnisse in XML und TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) verf\u00fcgen. F\u00fcr den praktischen Teil des Workshops ist es au\u00dferdem notwendig, einen Editor f\u00fcr rdf-Daten zu haben. Wir empfehlen Visual Studio Code (https:\/\/code.visualstudio.com\/) mit zwei Extensions: RDF Sketch, Stardog RDF Grammars. Die Teilnahme am Workshop ist kostenlos. These rules can also be applied to the structuring of available information in digital editions and corpora so that this information can be linked together and made easily searchable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop &#8222;Introduction to LOD: From Digital Scholarly Editions and Text Collections to the Web of Data&#8220; offers an introduction to the concepts and standards of LOD, combined with the application of this technology to digital editions and literary corpora. The workshop is organized by the Junior Professorship for Digital Humanities and the research focus &#8222;Digital Hermeneutics&#8220; of the Department &#8222;Knowledge &#8211; Culture &#8211; Transformation&#8220; at the University of Rostock.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first part of the workshop on September 20th, Christopher Pollin from the University of Graz will present basic concepts of Linked Open Data. Their relevance and application for digital editions will be discussed and put into practice, using historical account books as an example. On September 21st, Julia R\u00f6ttgermann, Johanna Konstanciak and Tinghui Duan from the University of Trier will give a practical introduction to LOD using data from Wikidata and from the project &#8222;Mining and Modeling Text&#8220; (MiMoText). The relationships between personal data (authors), location data (places of action and publication of the works, and partly historical place names), time data (date of first publication) and topics will be explored and introduced using the SPARQL query language.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants should have a basic knowledge of XML and TEI (Text Encoding Initiative).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also necessary to have an editor of rdf data for the hands-on part of the workshop. We recommend Visual Studio Code (https:\/\/code.visualstudio.com\/) with two extensions: RDF Sketch, Stardog RDF Grammars. Participation in the workshop is free of charge.
