Click <a href=\"https:\/\/ieg-dhr.github.io\/hnr-winterschool\/\">here<\/a> or see below for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Monday, November 28 \u2013 Thursday, December 1, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This winter school is designed to provide a guide for graduate students and early career researchers interested in the study of social networks with a special focus on historical research questions. This four day course will cover a range of sessions, offering hands-on exercises in Python using Jupyter Notebooks, and providing room for discussing your own datasets. Our keynote speaker Prof. Dr. David Zb\u00edral (Masaryk University) will elaborate on his work on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dissinet.cz\/\">DISSINET<\/a>\u00a0project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Syllabus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Day 1 (9:00 \u2013 12:00 and 14:00 \u2013 17:00 CET):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundamentals of social network analysis<\/li>\n<li>Conceptualizing a network research design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Day 2 (9:00 \u2013 12:00 and 14:00 \u2013 16:30 CET):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>History of network research<\/li>\n<li>Network theories<\/li>\n<li>Network visualization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Public Keynote (17:00 \u2013 18:30 CET)<\/p>\n<p>Day 3 (9:00 \u2013 12:00 and 14:00 \u2013 17:00 CET):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Network models and dynamics<\/li>\n<li>Epistemological implications of networks<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring and free exercises<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Day 4 (9:00 \u2013 12:00 CET)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wrap up and critical perspectives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the winter school, a familiarity with the basics of Python is required. Before the school starts, we will provide tutorials so everyone can have the basic understanding necessary for following the sessions.<\/p>\n<p>The winter school is designed as hands-on sessions with tutoring (<strong>virtual; working language in English<\/strong>), therefore we can only admit up to 25 participants. The winter school is free of charge.
