Die 8. Jahrestagung des DHd-Verbandes \u2013 die \u00bbDHd2022: Kulturen des digitalen Ged\u00e4chtnisses\u00ab in Potsdam \u2013 gibt ihre beiden Keynote-Speakerinnen bekannt: Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir mit Amalia S. Levi<\/strong> als Opening Keynote und Kathrin Passig<\/strong> als Closing Keynote zwei wunderbare Sprecherinnen gewonnen haben, die das Konferenzthema aus unterscheidlichen Blickwinkeln beleuchten werden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abstract:<\/strong> GLAM collections form the infrastructure of digital humanities work, and digitization has exponentially increased the pool of available primary sources that can be manipulated with computers. At the same time, GLAM institutions embody Western worldviews, imperial expansion, and national aspirations. Using museum, archival and library collections without interrogating layers of power and domination inscribed in objects and documents puts us at risk of perpetuating these structures, and the dominant voices within. Striving to be mindful of gaps and silences in our collections though, we find ourselves locating that which is already visible, because information retrieval systems are predicated on discovery. \u2013 In her talk, Amalia S. Levi will showcase how imperial legacies are still shaping how archives, libraries, and museums organize and present world memory. She will also discuss ways that digital humanities methods can potentially help us overcome such limitations, promote a more equitable, nuanced, and multivocal view of our past, and promote restorative justice for silenced actors in the historical record.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>About the speaker: <\/strong>Amalia S. Levi is an archivist and cultural heritage professional working with the non-profit HeritEdge Connection. She has worked in numerous projects processing and digitizing archival collections. She has Master\u2019s degrees in History; Library Science; and Museum Studies. Her research focuses on \u2018unearthing\u2019 marginalized people, who are usually invisible in archives, by weaving together different types of information to go beyond archival documents. She is passionate for public outreach work that engages the public with digitized collections. She is currently conducting doctoral research at the University of Bonn\u2019s Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies about the community of enslaved in Jewish households in Bridgetown, Barbados.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Abstract:<\/strong> \u203aBig\u2039 Data \u2013 wie gro\u00df ist das eigentlich? Kaum jemand hat eine intuitive Vorstellung von der Gr\u00f6\u00dfe digitaler Archive. Das ist beim Reden \u00fcber m\u00f6gliche und unm\u00f6gliche Projekte oft hinderlich. Wie viel Platz braucht Sci-Hub, das Internet Archive oder ein komplettes Twitterarchiv in Tera- oder Petabytes und in Kubikmetern? Was kostet die Aufbewahrung? Und was hat sich daran in den letzten Jahren ge\u00e4ndert?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\"Kathrin<\/a>\u00dcber die Sprecherin<\/strong>: Kathrin Passig arbeitet als Sachbuchautorin, Journalistin und Kulturwissenschaftlerin zu allen erdenklichen Feldern der Digitalen Kultur. Sie ist Mitgr\u00fcnderin der \u00bbZentralen Intelligenz Agentur\u00ab, war oder ist verantwortlich f\u00fcr die \u00bbRiesenmaschine\u00ab (Grimme Online Award 2006), das \u00bbTechniktagebuch\u00ab (Grimme Online Award 2019) und zahlreiche Bots. Von ihr erschienen u.a. das \u00bbLexikon des Unwissens\u00ab (2007, mit Alex Scholz), der Band \u00bbDinge geregelt kriegen \u2013 ohne einen Funken Selbstdisziplin\u00ab (2008, mit Sascha Lobo), \u00bbStandardsituationen der Technologiekritik\u00ab (2011) und zuletzt das \u00bbHandbuch f\u00fcr Zeitreisende. Von den Dinosauriern bis zum Fall der Mauer\u00ab (2020, mit Alex Scholz). 2006 wurde sie mit dem Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis ausgezeichnet; 2021 erhielt sie den Heinrich-Mann-Preis f\u00fcr Essayistik der Akademie der K\u00fcnste (Berlin).<\/p>\n
