Die Stelleninhaberin bzw. der \nStelleninhaber soll eine Schl\u00fcsselrolle bei der Weiterentwicklung der \n\u201eDigital Humanities\u201c an der TU Darmstadt an der Schnittstelle zwischen \nden Fachbereichen 02 (Gesellschafts- und Geschichtswissenschaften) und \n20 (Informatik) \u00fcbernehmen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die \nProfessur ist der Erforschung der Datengrundlagen der Humanities \ngewidmet (textf\u00f6rmige Daten, aber auch Bild-, Objekt-, Geodaten, Meta- \nund Messdaten oder digital born data). Dies umfasst zum einen die \nEntwicklung von und die epistemologische Reflexion \u00fcber Methoden zur \nAnalyse dieser Daten, inklusive der Reflexion \u00fcber die Entstehungs- und \nNutzungsbedingungen der Daten. Zum anderen geh\u00f6ren die Entwicklung und \ndie Anwendung algorithmischer Methoden zum Profil der Professur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eines\n oder mehrere der folgenden Forschungsgebiete bzw. -verfahren sollen im \nFokus stehen: Informations-\/Wissensmodellierung, Digitale \nDaten-\/Quellenkritik, Research Software Engineering (z.B. Behaviour \nDriven Development), Visualisierung von Daten der Humanities\/Visual \nComputing (z.B. GIS, Schnittstellen), Modellierung von \nForschungsstrategien in den IT-basierten Humanities, inkl. multimodaler \nKorpora (z.B. Data Scopes), Qualit\u00e4tsmanagement von \nHumanities-Forschungssoftware, Forschungsdaten und \nForschungsinfrastrukturen; ferner auch Natural Language Processing, \nTexttechnologie, Korpus- und Computerlinguistik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zu\n den Aufgaben der Professur geh\u00f6ren zwei miteinander verbundene \nBereiche: Zum einen die F\u00e4higkeit zur Entwicklung und Anwendung \nalgorithmischer Methoden, zum anderen die kritische Reflexion \u00fcber die \nVoraussetzungen und Folgen der Produktion und Nutzung digitaler Daten in\n den Humanities. Beides soll beitragen zur Theorie- und Methodenbildung \ndigitaler Wissenschaftspraxis. Dies setzt Vertrautheit sowohl mit \nalgorithmischen Verfahren als auch mit den Verfahrensweisen geistes- und\n sozialwissenschaftlicher Interpretation voraus, inkl. hermeneutischer \nAns\u00e4tze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In der Lehre widmet sich \ndie Professur Verfahren, wie digitale Quellen mit digitalen Methoden \nunter verschiedenen fachlichen Perspektiven ausgewertet werden (z.B. \npolitische Reden, Twitter-Nachrichten, Bildquellen u.a.). Konkret \numfasst dies zentrale Anteile im instituts\u00fcbergreifenden Master ‚Data \nand Discourse Studies‘. Dar\u00fcber hinaus sollen Beitr\u00e4ge in den \nunterschiedlichen Studieng\u00e4ngen des FB 02 geleistet werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die\n Bereitschaft zur Zusammenarbeit mit allen im Fachbereich vertretenen \nF\u00e4chern sowie mit dem Fachbereich Informatik im Bereich Digital \nHumanities wird vorausgesetzt. Eine Zweitmitgliedschaft im Fachbereich \nInformatik wird angestrebt. Institutionell wird die Professur im \nInstitut f\u00fcr Geschichte im FB 02 angesiedelt. Daher sind Bef\u00e4higung und \nBereitschaft zur konstruktiven Mitarbeit im Institut f\u00fcr Geschichte \nsowie seiner Weiterentwicklung in Forschung und Lehre erforderlich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Einstellungsvoraussetzungen:\n Die Stelleninhaberin bzw. der Stelleninhaber verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber eine \nwissenschaftliche Ausbildung in den Humanities (in einem der am \nFachbereich 02 vertretenen F\u00e4cher oder Bibliothekswissenschaft). \nAu\u00dferdem verf\u00fcgt sie\/er \u00fcber ausgewiesene Expertise in den oben \ngenannten Gebieten, insbesondere in der Entwicklung und Anwendung \nalgorithmisch basierter digitaler Analysemethoden. Au\u00dfer einer \nherausragenden Promotion und zus\u00e4tzlichen wissenschaftlichen Leistungen \n(Habilitation oder \u00e4quivalenten Leistungen) sollen Bewerberinnen und \nBewerber innovative Beitr\u00e4ge zur Forschung und Lehre im Schwerpunkt der \nProfessur vorweisen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This entails, on the one hand, \nthe development and epistemological reflection of methods for the \nanalysis of these data types, including reflection on the origins of the\n data and their use. On the other hand, the profile of the professorship\n entails the development and application of algorithmic methods for the \nhumanities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One or more of the \nfollowing research areas should be the expertise of the prospective post\n holder: information\/knowledge modelling, digital data\/source criticism,\n research software engineering (e.g. Behaviour Driven Development), \nvisualisation of humanities data, visual computing (e.g. GIS, \ninterfaces), modelling of research strategies in IT-based humanities \nincluding multimodal corpora (e.g. Data Scopes), quality management of \nhumanities research software, research data and research \ninfrastructures; also natural language processing, text technology, \ncorpus and computational linguistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Required\n skills thus extend over two related areas: expertise in the development\n and application of algorithmic methods and critical reflection on the \nprerequisites and consequences of the production and use of digital data\n in the humanities. Both areas should contribute to the development of \ntheory and methods for digital scientific practice. This requires \nfamiliarity both with algorithmic procedures and with the procedures of \ninterpretation in the humanities and social sciences, including \nhermeneutical approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In \nteaching, the post holder should cover procedures for evaluating digital\n sources with digital methods from different professional perspectives \n(e.g. analyses of political speeches, Twitter news, image sources, \netc.). In concrete terms, this includes central parts of the \ninter-institutional master’s programme ‚Data and Discourse Studies‘.
